Vibes Corner Studio Chapter

 

The vibes corner chapter started with Ray creating a mini studio room in his house which was located on the corner of knatchbull and Lilford Road in south London, he soon found that good vibes were for ever flowing in this room hence the birth of the name VIBES CORNER,  he later joined forces with Fitzroy Blake ( Recording Engineer) and started the vibes corner studio/record label in 1983, other instrumental personnel included Ray’s brother Jimmy who played bass and also singer/ song writer and multi instrumentalist Peter Hunnigale.

The first release on the label was the double a sided 12 inch (Dance in Time/ Dream Girl) on which Ray was the featured vocalist in 1984.

Vibes corner built a healthy catalogue of un released recordings which were the result of the popular Friday night jam sessions, these sessions were frequented by the likes of Caron wheeler(soul 2 soul) Claudia Fontaine, Al Campbell and many others.

Andrew Roachford of (“cuddly toy” and “naked without you”) fame, was one of the first artist to record at Vibes Corner.

Vibes corner was where Ray first met maxi priest and in later years he was commissioned to write for the international artist (“how can we ease the pain”, ‘Marcus” and “just wanna know”) were among these compositions.
